100 Word Challenge for Grownups – week 190

Julia at http://www.juliasplace.org.uk gave us ‘Who will you make peace with’ for Peace One Day     http://www.peaceoneday.org/ on 21 September. Here’s my take on it:

Eenie, meenie, miney, mo.

My finger landed on Poland. No, I don’t think so. I’ll try again. I shut my eyes, twirled my finger over the map and stabbed down. Italy this time. Hmm, that’s a possibility.

The back door opened and I called out. “Eva, is that you?”

She was still annoyed. “Who else would it be?”

She must have noticed I hadn’t made dinner like I promised. “Are you still trying to decide who you will make peace with?”

“Err. Yes.”

“Tsk.”

She didn’t get Risk at all, my Eva.

100 Word Challenge for Grown UpsĀ

Julia at http://juliasplace.org.uk/100wcgu/are-you-going-round-in-circles/ has given us an interesting prompt this week –  I spent the day going round in circles. Here’s my attempt.
What was I doing when I heard?

Guess.

I spent the day going round in circles. Clockwise. Anti-clockwise. Slow, big circles, graceful and sweeping. Tight, tucked circles conserving angular momentum, speeding up and slowing down, arms in, arms outstretched.

Checked the phone. Nothing. “Come on, come on.”

More circles.

Cramp. Bruised, blackened toenails. Cuts and grazes from tumbles onto the ice.

Morning ticked into afternoon, slid into evening. More circles.

My phone rang and I skated over to pull it from my bag, heart pounding.

“Yes?”

“Judy? You’ve made the Winter Olympics team. Pyeonchang 2018, here we come!”
