Julia at http://www.juliasplace.org.uk has given us ‘… I can’t decide when to change …’ as the prompt this week. Here’s my take:
I can’t decide when to change. I’m sitting here. Paralysed by indecision. There just never seems to be a right time.
The screaming noise distracts me. It’s shrill, metallic, and so loud. The man beside me isn’t helping. He’s obviously uncomfortable. Keeps fidgeting, moving his feet.
No, this really isn’t going to work. It’s going to be just like all the other times. He wipes his brow, slowly unpeels his fingers where he’s been hanging on. They’re white, bloodless, like his face.
Yeah, the gears have always been a problem.
“Maybe you should consider an automatic car for your driving lessons, madam. Please.”
