Julia at http://www.juliasplace.org.uk gave us three words this week. ‘but she saw’. Here’s my take on it.
I saw an old man. Bowed and bent. Deaf. Wrinkled face, spotted skin. Trouble with the waterworks.
But she saw a young man. Vigorous, healthy, strong. The sort of man that every woman wants to sweep her off her feet. The sort of man who worked hard for his family, worshipped his wife, loved and taught his children.
“Nan, when you got married did you ever think you and Grandad would be celebrating your Diamond Wedding Anniversary?”
She looked at him and as if her gaze had a string attached to it, he looked back, and winked.
“Oh yes, pet.”
