100 Word Challenge for Grownups – week 168

I love these challenges. Julia at http://www.juliasplace.org.uk gave us another photo prompt this week.

“Come on, Angela. What’s taking so long?”

“It’s this darn chimney. It’s too tight. I can’t get down.”

“I told you not to eat that second slice of cake.”

“But mortals have such nice cake.”

“Don’t whine. Now, get down that chimney, and take the soul straight to the pearly gates. God wants a word with that one before it goes downstairs.”

“But he’s a baker and a good one.”

“He’s a baker who wouldn’t take no for an answer. Bastard. Take his soul and be done with it. Oh, and get me an Eccles cake when you’re down there.”

    • Thank you! In my mind, they were good angels who were just a little bit tempted by mortal goodies. But the baker was definitely a bad guy, and his being good at baking didn’t make up for the fact that when a woman told him ‘no’, he heard that as ‘yes’.
